Dr. Tom Obertynski, a Metro-Detroiter, earned his undergraduate degree at the University of MIchigan, he then went on to complete his masters’ and medical degree at Wayne State University. Dr. Obertynski then completed his ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit. He then stayed on to finish sub-speciality training in glaucoma and advanced cataract surgery techniques at the Kresge Eye Institute.

Dr. Obertynski, enjoys teaching and is actively involved in both the didactic and surgical training of future ophthalmologists with his association at Beaumont Eye Institute.

Dr. Obertynski is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology; he is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and the American Glaucoma Society. In his free time, he follows the auto-industry and is an avid Indycar and Formula 1 race fan.
